
IMPROPOD
A unique podcast where improvised piano compositions are informed by conversations around the guests selected profound life story. Impropod also facilitates corporate workshops where groups are invited to build stories alongside live composed music in an interactive environment.


The Brief
Luke, the founder of Impropod, came to me without an existing visual mark, but with a clear desire for identity to reference waves. The challenge was to translate that cue into something refined and memorable, while creating a logo that could express the multi-layered nature of the brand without becoming a literal wave.

The Approach
After exploring conceptually abstract designs I developed the identity around the silhouette of a grand piano, using offset layers to represent the multifaceted nature of Impropod giving depth, movement, and a sense of mystery and transparency. This altered construction allowed the form to feel more atmospheric and nuanced, while subtly echoing the wave reference through the curved edge of the piano shape. The result is a mark that feels composed and distinctive, with enough flexibility to extend across digital content and social applications with consistency. The wordmark to accompany the logo references the piano without the grand piano silhouette by using the distinct pattern of the black keys on a piano.


The Solution
The final identity gave Impropod a strong and elegant visual foundation, aligning the brand with emotion, improvisation, and interplay at the heart of Luke’s work. It creates a polished visual system that feels both adaptable and recognisable, while supporting the brand across podcast and workshop touchpoints.
